Caederes debut album, Mass emission, from 2003 is to be completely honest one of my favourite death metal albums. It has that special ingredient of brutality, groove and enough versatility to never become boring. So when I received this promo I was bloody excited, cause finally new material emerged from this wicked act. Theyre apparently trying to snatch a new deal with Promo 2007, and if Im not mistaken these three songs (along with a bunch of others) is being recorded as we speak. So hopefully a new album will see the light of day soon.
As I said Caedere offered both brutality and groove on their previous CD, and this promo is certainly no different. It is jam-packed with brutal riffing la the American school of mangle, but sneaked in is also a touch of the Swedish old school style. And these wicked guitar riffs and pummeling bass is backed up by a furious and blasting drummer, and a deep, grunty growler. It has the speed one would ask for if youre a fan of acts like Disgorge and such, but also the heavy, churning breakdowns that is just perfect for some at-home headbanging.
The musicianship is great, the song-writing offers complexity without getting too technical, it has blasting and groove and a murderous vocalist. The three songs on here shows a continuance in their brutal and thick brand of death metal, and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that their upcoming album will kick arse. Im definitely looking forward to hearing more!
