A live album from one of the longest running deathgrind acts out there.
Depression was born in 1989, but didnt play a gig until '04, and they stopped doing so in '06 after just a handful of gigs. I guess you, just like I, didnt have the opportunity to actually see them live. So this is our only chance to try and get a feel for the live act
Depression.
The first thing that strikes me is that the sound quality is better than on tons of grind acts studio albums. Each instrument is fully audible as well as the vocals from Ron, Marc and Kai. Though Kais gnarly psycho screeches get a little low sometimes, but since hes the drummer I wouldnt expect anything else. So what about the music Well, you should have at least heard of these guys by now, so you should know what to expect. Its effective, old school, dirty, raw and heavy grinding death just the way we like it. Two growling madmen accompanied by a truly mad man for the screaming. The booklet has some pics from the evening, plus some thoughts and thanks from the
Depression dudes and a guy called Smoo, who had apparently flown in from the States just for this event. You can hear that the audience had a great time, as well as the band. Theres plenty of talk in between songs, and eventhough I dont speak any German, words like bier, tequila and chili con carne are international. If Im not mistaken I think theyre asking for more beer and checking to see if theres any more chili in the house, hehe
Close to 40 minutes of live action, ending with the unreleased studio track
Dalai Dahmer. Good stuff.
