I have been looking forward to this CD for ages now. This is the bands third CD, and by far the most diverse. They've slowed down quite a lot, which normally would be a downer for any band, but not this one. They've stepped away from the black metal to add even more viking feeling to this. Extremely worked through melodies and frequent use of violins creates a magnificent feeling and atmosphere. A lot of double bass drumming keeps this heavy while the vocals are some of the best ever on a viking-album. Everything from pretty much straight forward black/viking screams to a bit deeper, and then on to clean vocals almost like a man's choir. And you also have a rough punkier metal voice. All vocals are top notch! Lyrics deals with Nordic mythology/history, namely the vikings. Most of them are in Swedish, only two in English. Definitely like the Swedish one's better, feels more "correct" with a topic like this.
This will be a short review, and not the most well-written either, 'cause I don't know what else to say. If you like earlier Mnegarm you will probably love this. And fans of Thyrfing should definitely look this up. I've hardly listened to any other record since I got this one. A definite favourite!
