This is quite an old CD by now (well sort of, anyway), since it was released in 2003, so Im surprised that Ive received it for review. Its still the bands latest release, but the promo sheet mentions new material in the writing process, and theyre currently on the search for a label to release it. Misanthropic war is a self-released album, on the other hand.
Misanthropic Might whip up an aggressive style of black metal, which carries the Scandinavian banner high. The earlier releases of Marduk comes to mind, as well as the American band Kult Ov Azazel. So you can imagine that the tempo is rather high, and the melodic (yet quite harsh) guitar seems on a rather raging rampage, and the chainsaw sound makes it sound just even more deadly serious. For some slower parts and breakdowns the bass is fully audible as a burly pummeling, but for most of the time its hidden behind the rest of the music. Except for in Inhumate end, where the bass is set lose and takes an active part I the tunes, which really sounds killer, and rather death metal/goregrind. Now the vocals are really in your face, and you can almost feel the spit, as the black screams really seem set on a murderous rampage, occasionally backed up by a growl or two.
The raging and aggressive tunes presented here really makes me want more, so I hope theyre able to get a labels interest soon. Definitely one of the coolest black metal albums Ive come across lately. And I just have to say, Sics clown-like corpsepaint is just awesome!
