I was very, very confused the first time I listened to this album It didnt sound at all like the Sauron I knew, and I also thought it was quite soon to release a new album And thats when I realized that its two completely different bands. The Sauron I know are Dutch, but these guys are Polish. Ive never heard of them before, but apparently they released two demos in the early 90ies, recorded an album that didnt get released as it was meant, broke up and rose again to release this album.
Most of the time its of a rather slow tempo, with the riffs doing the talking. Some fairly intricate and technical riffing, but that get lost in the relatively weak sound. I guess its a drummachine, which sound a little too rigid and dead. Thats the case for most drummachine recordings, but this is exceptionally un-living with a rigid kickdrum and way too triggered sound. And on top of that the, as I mentioned, relatively weak production overall makes this a release easily forgotten. It really doesnt do anything to impress me. But, there is a good side to this as the vocals are quite wicked and sound typically old school grim. However thats really it; nothing else is exciting.
This is a xerox-cover promo, so I havent seen the actual release. But from the few pictures Ive seen of it, it looks really exceptional and cool. But as it is I wont track it down just for that. The few goldies (like for instance the choir-back ups in the beginning of Hunter) doesnt make up for the rigid and weak sound. And it sounds a little too boring and unimaginative as well. Nothing compelling or intriguing, just bland
