Ive never heard either band before, although Ive read their names a few times. And so first out was Ana Barata, and my initial thought was damn, this is cool. Thats until I heard the vocals and it sounded like a smurf on acid. So I set the player on 33 RPM and gave it another go. Not so cool anymore Its not that its bad, just that it was cooler blasting. Anyway, a bit of old school hardcorepunk is what we get here. Quite basic stuff except for the vocals since they have three vocalists, which is a tad unusual. The first three tracks are new, the other two tunes are from the Norrland D-Beat compilation released a few years ago, and its the first part that stands out. I dont really know what to say nor think about Ana Barata, judging by this. Its just basic old school crust la early 80ies, nothing really exciting.
So its on to the second band I had never heard before; Speedergarben. Now this is pretty much the same deal except for one significant detail this is really cool! Energetic crustcore with fine humoristic lyrics, although about damn serious subjects. This is definitely something for the fans of our old Swedish crust royalties Anti Cimex, Mob 47 and the likes. Wicked music and musicianship, excellent lyrics and a tad unusual vocals. It all reminds me a bit of early Epileptic Terror Attack - cool!
