The first thing that strikes me is that M:40 sounds a lot different from their MCD. The finncore vibe I used to get from �em is gone, and what is left is a bit more standardized crust of the modern kind. Human Waste and Totalt J�vla M�rker are two bands that come to mind, not particularly great comparisons in my book. But let�s face it, I�d rather listen to M:40 than previous said bands any day! And that might be because Snifter also comes to mind, one of the greatest crust bands I know. The lads in M:40 manages to spawn an aggression that I miss in a lot of the more �modern� crust acts. The dual vocals are fairly similar, and they could benefit from having one of the dudes alter his voice a little into a deeper growl-like scream, which would add more brutality and impact to it. But oh well, fuck it. This is a great mix of the old and the new. And I do without a doubt prefer these guys over most Skitsystem rip offs since M:40 aren�t afraid of stepping out of the mould. Not that they are, but you know what I mean, don�t you?
Grace.Will.Fall starts off grinding like crazy before they slow things down and takes a step towards a more old school hardcore vibe. Or at least so I thought. A bit of the modern agenda � la Dillinger Escape Plan is also thrown into the mix. And Moralens Stank offers some more melodic influences as well as a crusty edge. These three tracks really gets me going. Energetic and powerful hardcore drawing influences from a load of varied directions. They aren�t afraid to cut and paste the best from old school, metalcore and punk, which creates a great mix. The intelligent lyrics are delivered by a raging, screaming mad man penetrating your eardrums like a bullet to the head. Awesome stuff!
