The Australian label Grindhead Records got me salivating with joy after I was hit with the masterpiece June 19, 1932 by grinders Hailstones Kill 200, but I really dont get the need to release this split CD.
Roadside Burial opens up with eight tracks of heavy, old school goregrind. But while having the same essences as Bile, The Day Everything Became Nothing and such greats, they really dont live up to the comparison. It more or less falls flat on its arse and ends up in the pile of not-so-good, but still not bad, goregrind bands. They dont rely on speed for their brutality, as its mostly mid tempo. Heavy, chugging strings and goreish growls is what you get, and I suppose it will hit the spot for some, but Ill rather go for the big guns (which is ironic, considering the cover, hehe)!
Corpsickle is a hilarious name, and I could easily adore the band just for the genial name, but that wouldnt be fair. Why, you say. Well, mainly cause I dont really enjoy the tunes too much. Its pretty heavy death metal thats quite lame in its performance. The vocals arent much to speak of, and the strings are very dull most of the time, as the drum machine bugs the hell out of me. So well, Im not really thrilled. But it sure is a cool band name!
