Von B��m is a band that�s been playing on and off since 1984, but as far as I know this is their first release that�s not a demo or compilation. And while this is recorded in 2007 they�re definitely keeping true to their roots. It�s a total blast of Mob 47/Totalit�r mangle, but adding a touch of the new. I can�t really say I love all songs, like for instance Still alive is a bit too rock n roll-oriented for me, but songs like Atomvinter and Dimmig v�rld totally make up for that. Fast d-beat hammering with the typical semi-simplistic distorted string work, and with a raging vocalist. If I didn�t know any better I�d guess Krabban was still a teenager, �cause he sure sounds like a screaming punk in the prime of his teen. But to ease up the classic Swedish hardcorepunk sound they whip up a total Discharge-reeking track in Speedfreak, and a really melodic pure punkrock tune with Piller. Definitely a keeper!
Now, Motorbreath is a band that I�ve heard of, but never heard. I guess you could say I didn�t know what to expect, but that�s not true. With a name like that I had a big hunch it�d be Mot�rhead-oozing crustcore, and I was right. Their opening track M�lndal rider is seriously jam-packed with screechy rock n roll riffs, and as so it becomes too rich for my blood. It�s just too much� Vart fan �r solen on the other hand rips, which is more just a harsh and brutal crust tune. Unfortunately this doesn�t last as it�s quickly back to the rock riffing. The vocals are really rough, and I like it a lot, and the same goes for the drumming� So it�s the damn rock riffs that mess it up. But, a couple of the other tracks are still great enough to get your kicks to, since it�s not overly packed with the damn rock.
