I sure have been missing out on something big here. I sincerely thank Karol of Self Made God for letting me get to know Toxic Bonkers, 'cause Seeds of Cruelty has been one of the most played records since I got it. To be honest I'm a bit ashamed for not hearing about them earlier. They've released a demo, a 7" and two fullengths before this. The demo alone sold in 4000 copies!
This is some seriously metallic grindcore. Mid-tempo grind with influences from both hardcore and death metal. 11 songs, all of them heavy-as-hell, and never reaching the speed of what you'd usually expect when thinking of grind. Take Napalm Death, slow it down a bit, and add a dose of Bolt Thrower and I'd pretty much say this is what to expect. Something here also gets me thinking of Suppository, but for what reason I can't say. The lyrics are political/personal bits, screamed in a magnificent hoarse hardcore way. This is the perfect fucking blend of grind, death metal and hardcore. Perfect for a night with some friends, nodding along and drinking beer. Speaking of nodding along - both riffs and drums are exceptionally handled in a perfect tempo for this action! Whilst the vocals gives you an urge to scream and smash something. "Fuck Yeah" is all I can say. And with a Fuck Yeah I'll end this review. But before I go I just have to commend Toxic Bonkers on the guitar solo in Liars. It just makes you imagine the biggest and meanest death metal acts out there - F u c k Y e a h!
