Ok, so this is the third issue of the omnibus zine A Network of Friends, meaning that different zines are put together into one giant issue. I havent read any of the previous two, but this time around 10 zines shares the space of 100 pages; Ripping Thrash, Agitate, WHY, Initonit, Gadgie, Attitude Problem, Dmd, Headwound, Born Caught, and Toilet Paper Bible. And in all honesty Ive only heard of Ripping Thrash and Dmd before. I seldom read zines since I dont really feel I have the time to track down the good ones, cause lets face it; there are tons of crappy ones! Ive had this baby on my table for a while now, and I still havent had the energy to read through it all. The main parts Ive skipped are the political ramblings and personal thoughts. Sure, this might be interesting, but I just dont have the energy at the moment, nor interest actually as Im fed up with politics, at least for now.
The overall look of the zine is pretty good, but for some pages the print is a bit weak, which makes it difficult to read. But I managed to go through both the Framtid and Rajoitus interviews, even though those pages suffered from previously mentioned problem. The pages I paid extra attention to were the ones contributed by Dmd, since I got this zine for review from their headquarters. And their contribution is by far the best looking and easy to read.
I want it to be structured and with decent printing, and not nearly the entire thing lives up to my demands. Maybe Im just not a fanzine kind of guy anymore? I dont demand a huge budget with glossy paper and full colour, but at least dont use hand writing throughout an entire interview, like with the After the Bombs one. There are very few reviews, and the ones to be found are usually with too soft bands for my taste, so my interest fades away
