Hotbild - I blint raseri CD-R
Genre: Crustcore
Origin: Sweden Released: 2006 Website: Hotbild Label: - Uploaded: 11.07.06 I cant really say why, but I just find this demo so damn hard to review. Its not that I dont like it, cause I really do, I just dont seem to find the words for it. When I heard Hotbilds old demo Vemod a couple of years ago I was instantly hooked. And among all the quasi depressed, teenage-angst crust bands around today it feels good to hear a band that you know are honest about their lyrics. Hotbild even had to go on holidays for a while when one of the guys tried to commit suicide and another one (or maybe it was the same guy, I dont know) was forcefully taken into custody and rehab for drug abuse. Now thats not just your everyday I hate my life and the society bullshit most bands are doing today. This is for real and the bands not just following a trend. If you take the fiercest and most powerful crust around, like for instance the best parts of Skitsystem, add to that the chilling heaviness from any of the original old school black metal bands, and you have an awesome recipe of blackened crustcore thatll chill your soul, break your bones and feast on your heart. The pounding drums set the tempo, the heavy strings start the depressive state, the hopelessness in the lyrics sets the mood to stark, suicidal, bi-polar state of mind and the incredible vocals fills in the blanks. This is really brutal shit, containing both harsh and icy black metal and arse-kicking crustcore, a mix absolutely mastered by these guys. Id say the black metal influences comes mainly from old school bands like Mayhem and the likes, but in Raseri I find a distinct feeling of Shining, especially the last 1 minute of it. The worn, desperate screams about three minutes into the track really gets me thinking of the latter mentioned band. I sure hope Hotbild gets a couple of split 7s out there after this one, itd be a damn shame otherwise. And later on they should definitely advance to a fullength. But for people that still havent heard this awesome band some 7s are perfect to build up a need for em first before they release their first fullength. Tracklist: 01. Svek 02. Dmd 03. Raseri 04.
