When I heard that Warcollapse were coming back I was really excited. Theyve always been one of my favorite crust acts, and for them to make new tunes just cant go wrong. After a long wait (the album was recorded between '04 and '07) it is finally here. And this is such a fucking blast from the past.
Defy! opens with the powerful d-beat mangle tune Cold war remains, and I instantly get drawn in and shout along in the chorus. The title track is a slow, haunting smack in the face of those whos forgotten their ideals. T.H.C is a plead towards drug legalization and Nightstick raids tells the story of an act of police brutality. But dont you worry, theres plenty of war going on here as well. Though not as heavy as before this is 33 minutes of brutal, pummeling crustcore. They spice things up every now and then with a small hint of hardcore, and with growls, screams and mangle how could you possibly go wrong? Its Warcollapse dammit! And I really like the fact that theres a Swedish lyrical track, which makes Jalles growls even more brutal. Just plain wicked!
